INSPIRATION

The television series is inspired by a childhood memory of Avi, who, at 8 years old, watched a black-and-white clip of the crew of the submarine DAKAR preparing for its maiden voyage. When he asked his mother about it, she replied simply, “We never leave our people behind.”

This powerful mantra of solidarity and unyielding commitment to one’s comrades becomes the cornerstone of the series, exploring themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and the enduring human spirit.

DAKAR is a limited series designed for streaming, imbued with Cold War-era intrigue surrounding the Israeli submarine DAKAR, which mysteriously disappeared during its maiden voyage from the UK in 1968. For three decades, the fate of the submarine and its sixty-nine crew members remained a haunting enigma.
